WEEK FOURTEEN

We ended last week in Senj with a lot of rain and poor Peggy needing new tyres.

We couldn’t get her fixed until Tuesday so spent Monday moping around (possibly hungover) and enjoying the odd bouts of sunshine. After a quick stop at Janušić Servis on Tuesday (absolutely fantastic service & help), we were on the road again with two new tyres, a wheel alignment and 2,100 HRK less in our wallet (about $420 AUD).

Again, we had set off with no destination in mind but quickly found the drive along the coast to be one of the best yet. We weaved around little bays and drove through small towns before stopping for the night at Autocamp Žalo for 134 HRK. The facilities were good (and came with a strong smell of baby powder?) but the absolute beachfront access was the real winner here (so good we took absolutely no pictures).

There was absolutely nothing around and we had run out of food so we went further south and stopped at Autocamp Pisak in Seline for 3 nights, costing 137 HRK per night. Again, the camp was located right on the beach with a market close by and the facilities were excellent. The weather was woeful for most of our time here so we just kicked back, relaxed and read a lot.

From Seline we drove a titch further to Zadar and camped for free in a carpark right next to the old town. There is just something about ‘old towns’ that you can never get sick of and we had an awesome time wandering around before the heavens opened up and drenched the city.

One of the main / coolest things to see in Zadar is the ‘Sea Organ’ and ‘The Greeting to the Sun’ – both located at the end of the riva (sea promenade). The organ uses the energy of the sea to create harmonies that will never sound the same twice and is completely mesmerising

We left Zadar on Sunday morning and went a little further south before pulling into Autokamp More in Žaborić (125 HRK per night with basic but good facilities). Again, the camp was within meters of the ocean and we had a solid halfa on the beach before the most ridiculous thunderstorm hit.

Until Week Fifteen. Doviđenja x
